Folk music and popular dances

Attending this activity, the EVS volunteers will be given the possibility to choose between: 1. Learning about Romanian folk music and performing vocal musical genres and popular instruments. 2. Handling the violin and approaching some popular and classical music instrumental genres from the local repertoire. 3. Handling the guitar and the accordion both as soloist instrument and accompaniment. The genres approached will be classical and contemporary. Through folk music and popular dance, the EVS volunteers will be given the chance to “taste” from the traditional specific place where they are carrying their probation, having at the same time the opportunity to acquire new abilities in the music field.

Light music band

The volunteers will get the possibility of creating their own band according to their own preferences or their expectations expressed in their letter of motivation. The music will be the connection between the EVS volunteers and the youth participants at the project. An important point will be the fact that the actual EVS volunteers will have at hand all the necessary instruments for realizing musical experiments. Songs from the richest national and international patrimony will be singed. The practical abilities that the volunteers will gather from this stage will help them in using instrumental music not only as a form of expression, but also as a form of communication with the others. Our organization also took into account the possibility of organizing a public representation.

Photo-report and photographic art

Developing the passion for beauty through immortalizing the images around us, knowing how to use the equipment for astound the symbols and expressions, the creation of a preoccupation in the audio-visual fields, are just a few reasons that the Youth Offensive implementation team took into consideration when writing this present proposal as part of the European Voluntary Service. Thus, through these kinds of activities proposed to EVS volunteers, our organization tries to discover that native vein talent which is mandatory for the youth interested in art photography. The EVS volunteers will expose their creations as part of a presentation in a public institution from Arad County. More than this, the most successful ones will be posted and commented by authors on the web-sites of the partner structures from EVS projects.

Theatre

The volunteers will be coordinated is order to take into account the personality and temper and through improvisation each participant in part should find a great liberty of using their creativity. An activity with no written script in which everyone will find the energy and the sense of playing. Once the frame is created through individual and collective exercises focused on space, rhythm, emotional states, senses and voice, and once every volunteer have found his/her own place in the group, the methodology that is going to be followed will permit everyone to understand its own availability for playing, feeling, expressing and even for receiving feedback in the end on simple themes, with or without words. This is the beginning of the game. The next step will be the actual creation of the play; the group is going to choose a working theme. Gradually, the situation will be defined, the drama that is going to be played and the actors that are going to perform. Research, dialogues and the profile of the characters, they will all be done through games. The EVS volunteers will work together with the youngsters from the hosting community in organizing this play that will need of course many rehearsals and performances. Spontaneity will be gratefully encouraged as well as the life giving of words through gestures, mimics and scenic movements. The costumes selection and setting, as well as the music will be an important part of the whole artistic creation.

Sportive and modern dance.

The volunteers will be given the possibility of participating 4 hours a week to modern dance lessons and at the end of probation they will give a representation at “Palatul Copiilor”. Also, the participants will get the chance to see the actual stages of forming in this field aiming at developing abilities of training in artistic field, abilities that can be used in further activities in their native country or initiatives and projects in this field. Those who will attend this types of activities will get the chance to spend their probation in the most pleasant and useful way through developing the right and expressive body behaviour, education of esthetics sense, creating harmony between body movement and music; last but not least, learning of dance general characteristics, steps from sportive and modern dance (standard, Latino, rock’n’roll, salsa and meringue).

The volunteers are to achieve the handicraft of converting ceramics in art using their own tactile sense, their creativity and their sense of co-operation. Pots or figures are to be created on themes established from the beginning by the members of mixed teams formed by EVS volunteers and from pupils that are studying in partner member schools of Youth Offensive Association in other projects. The themes will give the participants the chance to develop their imaginative skills, by shaping the objects through the act of creation in a visionary world. The most successful figures are going to be processed in contests and exhibitions in the calendar of “Palatul Copiilor”, at local, national or international level.
